In light of the resignation of councillor André Bauler, the residents of Erpeldange-sur-Sûre will yet again have to visit the polling stations in March 2024.
André Bauler's resignation means that the municipal council is no longer complete, which resulted in the decision to hold another round of elections to fill the vacancy.
According to the law, these elections must be organised three months after the decision of the municipal council has been communicated to the Ministry of the Interior - which is why the initial proposal to hold them simultaneously to the European elections in June was declined. The Minister has therefore now set the date of these elections for 24 March 2024, and candidacies can be submitted to the municipality on 19 and 24 January 2024 between 3 pm and 6 pm.
Citizens can also request a postal vote from 2 January. Further details will be communicated next week, including whether voting will be compulsory in these elections.
