An impressive maneuver by a Cargolux pilot, skillfully executing a graceful 'wing-wave' with a Boeing 747-8 during takeoff, has garnered the admiration of millions as a viral video from 2014 resurfaces.
A video has recently gone viral after a Cargolux pilot waved goodbye with his plane just after leaving the tarmac. It is a well-known fact that, even if this practice requires well-established flying knowledge, some pilots occasionally like to perform such spectacular-looking manoeuvres, especially with aircraft not originally designed for such operations.
But, at a cost of £222.5 million each, it is certainly not advisable to damage a brand new Boeing 747-8 just for fun.
Naturally, the spectators watching the plane take off were surprised to witness it execute side-to-side flips on the runway. But, rather than losing control of the plane, the pilot was actually performing a highly skilled manoeuvre known as a 'wing-wave'.
Typically, this maneuver serves as a gesture of gratitude to the personnel at the airbase where the cargo plane was manufactured, especially when it's departing its home base for the last time. One can only hope that the cargo was securely fastened, and any passengers on board had their seatbelts fastened as well.
Although the video dates back to 2014, it has recently resurfaced and garnered over 4 million views since Sunday.
