Even if the Gare police station was closed during the night of 11 to 12 August, all police services were still guaranteed at all times, Minister Kox explained in his response to the urgent parliamentary enquiry from CSV MPs Laurent Mosar and Léon Gloden.

The response, issued on Thursday morning, further notes that the Verlorenkost police HQ was in charge of covering the Gare district. The Gare station itself is said to be only one of the branches of the wider Luxembourg City police department.

Minister Kox underlined that police officials are in charge of organising their day-to-day operations. Individual stations temporarily closing is not rare, he further states, citing large-scale events as reasons for such closures.

The response concludes by highlighting the government’s police recruitment efforts, reinforced since 2019, which should be continued by the next administration.
