MPs Mosar and Gloden raised their concerns around the alleged temporary closure of the Gare police station on Saturday night in a parliamentary enquiry to Minister of Internal Security Henri Kox. According to the enquiry, the police station in Luxembourg City’s Gare district was formally closed on Saturday night due to insufficient staff.

Quite a number of police officers had allegedly been put on sick leave while others had handed in their weapons as they needed “longer-term maintenance”. As a result of this staff shortage, the filing states, the station had to close for one night and is apparently still not de facto operational.

In this context, the MPs from the Christian Social People’s Party asked Minister Kox, among other things, about the exact reasons behind the closure and enquired about potential plans to prevent such closures in the future.

Should the urgency of the question be acknowledged, then the Ministry will be compelled to respond within a week.
