On Tuesday, the Ministry of Education terminated its financial agreement with the ASBL Science Centre, which will expire in six months.
The Ministry also advises the 'Léierbud' Foundation, where the Science Center is located, terminate its lease agreement with the Foundation.
On Wednesday afternoon, Education Minister Claude Meisch briefed members of the Budgetary Oversight and Education commissioners on the latest developments in the case. The Ministry hopes to gain leverage on the private partners of the Science Center and the GGM11 company through the terminations, according to Meisch.
Both the Science Center and GGM11 are controlled by businessman Nicolas Didier. The Ministry of Education has charged the General Inspectorate of Finance with conducting an audit of the Science Centre, following the revelation of Didier's conflict of interest.
The audit is expected to be finished by late April.
