The trial surrounding the resignation of a former Mudam director has been postponed a second time to October, after one of the defendants fell ill.

Former Mudam director Enrico Lunghi accused three former RTL employees and one current staff member with slander, defamation and involuntary bodily harm due to "mental health problems" following an incident on camera which led to his resignation from the museum.

The court case was already postponed in February after a defendant's lawyer broke his leg. It has now been pushed back to October after one of the defendants fell ill, but maintains their need to make a statement in court.

The case came about following a report televised in autumn 2016 on the RTL programme Den Nol op de Kapp, featuring an interview with Lunghi. Lunghi was depicted grabbing reporter Sophie Schram's arm; however, it later transpired the footage had been edited in a questionable manner.

The affair had significant fallout, leading to the resignation of Enrico Lunghi as MUDAM director and Alain Berwick as director general of RTL. Berwick as well as the then head of programming Steve Schmit, the creator of the original report, Marc Thoma, and Schram were later sued by Lunghi.
