The boy was on Rue Aloyse Meyer at around 5.20pm. Police were alerted to the incident.
Officers located a group of nine teenagers nearby, who were questioned about the attack. They were not carrying the stolen phone. However, they did have a pocket knife and a small quantity of cannabis on their person, which police confiscated.
A complaint was filed against several youths who were thought to be suspects.
