Two citizens' initiatives have publicly expressed their opposition against the 72-ha project, mainly due to its proposed location.

The 60-room hotel project will span a surface of 72 hectares and will be built behind the Piko swimming pool and football pitch. An underground tunnel will connect the main building with a wellness area.

The members of the action groups Doihl and Kordall were compelled to oppose the project after the municipality of Pétange agreed to gran a building permit, despite the terrain's location within a nature reserve.

The action groups will organize a discussion on Thursday evening at the scout chalet, to inform the public about the project plans. The focus will be on the impact on nature and the legislation surrounding nature conservation.

The goal of these citizens' initiatives is not to solely criticise, but also to suggest alternative locations for the project.
