
Overnight, it was once again switched on and connected to the French power grid, according to a press release issued by the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps.
The unit is set to achieve its maximum electricity production capacity over the coming days. It had been shut down since February for maintenance reasons, with over 12,000 maintenance works carried out in order to ensure its safety.
Units 1, 2 and 3 are currently inactive at Cattenom due to corrosion.
At present, 40 of the 56 nuclear reactors in France are connected to the grid.
