The Green minister emphasised that the National Affordable Housing Company (SNHBM) is currently building between 250 and 300 new homes per year, in response to queries by déi Lénk.
Earlier this year, RTL 5Minutes investigated claims by residents that the Kirchberg buildings were not meeting the required standards, with reports of mould, damp, poor ventilation and defective windows. Residents expressed disappointment at the SNHBM’s response to their concerns, as the housing promoter was slow to react and in some cases, dismissed the complaints entirely.
Kox said the problems would be dealt with by the contractors and building companies as part of the so-called “biennial and decennial guarantee”.
The SNHBM does not build the residences, but instead works in conjunction with construction companies selected via public tender. The housing minister confirmed that these companies would have to bear the costs of resolving the issues reported by residents. In other cases, the SNHBM could intervene, Kox concluded.
