A student at St George's International School in Luxembourg has won the 2021 Cambridge Top in the World Award for economics.

Lieuwe Troelstra, a final-year student who was also Head Boy at St George's, received the highest mark awarded worldwide in his economics A-level exam, beating thousands of schoolchildren from across the world.

The prize is awarded by the Cambridge Assessment International Education examination board, which is part of the University of Cambridge.

Troelstra now studies geography with economics at the London School of Economics and said his trick for success was intensive short periods of study broken up by plenty of breaks.

The Principal of St George's, Dr. Christian Barkei, said the school was 'very proud that one of our students has received this prestigious academic award.'

St George's International School is based in the Hamm district of Luxembourg City and is open to children aged 3 to 18+. It currently has 875 students from over 60 nationalities.
