After a pandemic-related hiatus, organisers of the Springbreak convention were happy to return to Kirchberg for a four-day experience, half of which unfolded without the 3G system.
Springbreak 2022 was not to become a simple convention where people walk from one stand to the next, but rather an interactive experience where people were able to participate in several activities over the course of four days. Our colleagues from RTL did not miss out on this chance and also paid a visit to the convention at Luxexpo in Kirchberg.
Parents certainly struggled to contain their kids in the video gaming section. Here, 6-year-old Valentin played Mario Bros right next to 8-year-old Oscar, who just discovered an entirely new game for himself. It was also no rare sight to have parents jump in and join the fun themselves.
Walking on, visitors were then graced to a show by eight of the world's best BMX specialists. Luxembourgish cyclist Viki Gomez provided insight into the experience: "The show is a mix of hip hop and freestyle BMX. Normally it's just a demonstration, but today we turned it into a competition to engage the audience, who can decide over the winners with their applause."
An 'Urban Food Village' was also set up to satisfy the culinary needs of convention visitors. Furthermore, people were able to inspect and buy local products.
Luxexpo director Morgan Gromy expressed satisfaction over the return of the Springbreak convention after a pandemic-related hiatus: "We opened our doors on Thursday, so before the announcement that the 3G system would disappear. Once it was abolished, even more people started coming to the convention."
