The director of Luxembourg's largest brewery told RTL the Brasserie Nationale had weathered the difficult period caused by the coronavirus pandemic, but that they were preparing for potential future issues.

In an interview with RTL, Mathias Lentz said the brewery was anticipating complications due to price increases for raw materials. However, the Brasserie Nationale director was preparing to maintain their current consumer prices, while absorbing as many costs as possible.

Lentz explained the brewery had initiated special contracts with its suppliers to ensure they would not have to raise their beer prices.

As Covid restrictions have lifted, Lentz said the Brasserie Nationale was optimistic that there would be more gatherings, events and parties this summer, thus leading to higher demand for beer products. Although the brewery was not dissatisfied with 2021's intake, it did not compare with pre-pandemic profits in 2019. However, the easing of restrictions in comparison to last year should hopefully represent a return to normality, he concluded.
