RTL Today - Minister of Finance: Yuriko Backes tests positive for Covid-19

On Tuesday morning, the Ministry of Finance confirmed that after taking a PCR test, Yuriko Backes received a positive result.

The Minister isolated herself immediately. The politician from the Democratic Party (DP) is fully vaccinated and will switch to telework. The Ministry's press release did not give any details on symptoms the Minister may or may not be experiencing.

On Tuesday morning, prior to the publication of the press release, Backes had shared a picture of her and the Minister of Finance of Kosovo, Hekuran Murati, with whom she had a meeting.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean Asselborn also recently tested positive for Covid-19. Last Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Asselborn has mild symptoms.
