Last week, 5,871 people tested positive for Covid-19, down from 11,003 one week prior.

24,341 PCR tests were administered between 7 and 13 February.

The positivity rate decreased from 34 to 24%, while the seven-day incidence rate dropped from 1,700 to 924. For the unvaccinated group, the incidence rate stood at 1,368, whereas it was 749 amongst the vaccinated.

The number of active infections decreased from 26,222 on 6 February to 17,119 on 13 February. The average age of coronavirus patients was 31.1 years.

12 people died after contracting Covid-19 last week. The average age of deceased patients is now 80.

The number of hospital admissions dropped from 73 to 64 within a week. The number of ICU patients decreased from eleven to ten. The average age of patients was 58.

24 out of 64 patients in regular care were unvaccinated, 40 of them had received all jabs. Four out of ten ICU patients were unvaccinated.

Fewer people had to quarantine or isolate between 7 and 13 February, but still over 25,700 people were in isolation (-27%), with 3,073 in quarantine (-50%).

Most new infections occurred in family circles (40.8%) followed by the workplace (5.4%) and the care sector (3.4%). Holidays abroad account for only about 3% of new infections. In about 37.6% of cases, no infection origin could be determined.

Only one single school class suffered more than five infections and thus had to be quarantined.

About 12,000 doses of coronavirus vaccine were administered over the course of last week. 3,053 people received their second jab and 6,713 a booster shot. 466,145 people now count as fully vaccinated, which equals about 77.6% of the population over the age of five.

According to the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), traces of coronavirus residue are still present in the country’s wastewater treatment plants, but the rate seems to be on the decline.
