The OGBL disagrees both with the Prime Minister, who wants a vaccine mandate for people over 50, and with experts who want it for care and health sector workers. They reiterated their position during the first meeting of their National Committee on Tuesday. “We do not want to play one group against the other,” said OGBL president Nora Back.
“No sector should be targeted more than another, [... ] and this also applies to age groups,” she explains.
They are not opposed to a general mandate, “if it is necessary.” What matters is solidarity.
Regarding 3G at work, they think this should no longer be necessary by the end of the month, saying it had been “very complicated” to set up CovidCheck at the workplace and the measure had reached its limits: “those who have not been persuaded by now won’t be”. The measure “has caused too much damage”, says Nora Back.
High energy and gas prices are another problem raised at the meeting. The union demands a package of measures by the government to help households, as the cost-of-living allowance “is not sufficient by far”. They deplore the lack of political response.
