Luxembourg CityHundreds of protestors demonstrate against Covid-19 measures

RTL Today
The announced protests against the Covid-19 measures, which were both registered with the municipal authorities beforehand, appear to have attracted fewer people compared to previous weekends.

According to our colleagues from RTL.lu, around 100 people gathered for the start of the demonstrations at 2pm. Both organisers had agreed to respect the predefined perimeter, which allows protests to take place between Glacis and Philharmonie.

At about 3pm, the number had increased to around 300 protestors.

The tram was able to operate normally despite the event, but the police closed off both the Schuman roundabout and Grand Duchess Charlotte Bridge to traffic.

The protests were being monitored by police forces on site.

At about 3.15pm, it was announced that traffic towards Luxembourg City could resume as normal. Shortly afterwards, protestors started gathering in front of Philharmonie. The demonstration was mostly peaceful.
