Infection numbers are also on the rise in Luxembourg’s retirement and nursing homes. The sector currently counts 108 active Covid-19 infections among its residents. This is more than twice as many as last week. 22 homes are affected.

Most people have received their booster shot and are not experiencing a severe course of the disease, Cahen states. Five people have been hospitalised.

Retirement and nursing homes are subject to a ‘3G+' regime, meaning that in addition to providing proof of vaccination, recovery, or a recent negative test result, visitors also have to take a rapid test on site before entering.
