13.046 euros is the minimum a person can earn per hour in Luxembourg, leaving the Grand Duchy with the highest minimum wage in the EU.

The recent index on 1 October 2021 has meant a slight increase of the minimum hourly wage to 13.046€ from 12.73€ previously.

This works out as 2,256.95€ a month for a full time job, although the hourly wage for minors is lower.

This means Luxembourg remains the country with the highest minimum wage in the EU. The Netherlands come second with a gross monthly salary of 1,701 euros, but with a few provisions. The full minimum wage only applies to those over 21, and there is no fixed hourly rate, but a minimum monthly income. This means persons working 35 hours a week receive the same minimum wage as those working 40 hours.

France lies in third place with a gross hourly rate of 10.57€, which comes out as 1,603€ a month. Belgium has a minimum hourly wage of 9.87€, and Germany 9.87€.

The lowest earners are found in Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria, with 544€ a month in Hungary, and 3€/h in Bulgaria, which equals around 515€ a month. Bulgaria only mandates 2€/h, which is around 344€ a month, depending on exchange rates.

Of course, the cost of living is considerably higher in Luxembourg than in those countries.
