On Thursday afternoon, a final-year student from the International School in Differdange has died following a car accident in France.

Differdange Mayor Guy Altmeisch confirmed the death on Thursday evening following an enquiry by RTL. The 19-year-old student was beloved by his peers and active in student life. Classmates were offered psychological counselling after his passing.

France’s Républicain Lorrain reported on Thursday that a fatal crash on the RD16b between Russange and Rédange killed a 19-year-old driver at the scene. Rédange Mayor Daniel Cimarelli visited the scene and told our colleagues at RTL Infos that the vehicle struck a pole: "The accident took place in the right lane and the vehicle hit an electric pole."
