The Minister of Defence, François Bausch, spoke to RTL regarding plans for new Covid test centres.
Two of the centres will be set up in the capital, at the P&R Sud and potentially at the LuxExpo, with others at the Raemerich roundabout in Esch-sur-Alzette, Junglinster and Friedhof.
From mid-January, 3G CovidCheck conditions will be introduced at the workplace, meaning employees will have to produce a daily certified rapid test if they are neither vaccinated nor recovered from coronavirus.
People who have had one dose of the vaccine will be able to benefit from free tests offered by the army's five test centres.
The centres will be open until mid-February at least, while testing appointments will last between 15 and 20 minutes. The idea is people will be able to park, get out, do the test, and receive the result in that time, Bausch told RTL.
150 soldiers will be deployed for the operation. Appointments can be made two weeks in advance if required.
