The vaccination rate in Luxembourg still varies drastically with age. Half of those between 18 and 24-years-old are still unvaccinated, according to the ECDC report. So far, 51% of this age group have received their first jab, while only 37.7% have had both.
The category 25 to 49-year-olds already shows a steady increase in vaccinations, with 66% being fully vaccinated. 36% have not been vaccinated at all.
In comparison, 22% of those between 50 and 59 have not had their first jab either. Currently, 66% of this age group is completely vaccinated, while 78% have had their first jab. Here the question is whether the percentage includes people that never went to get their second jab and only a first.
Of the 60 to 69-years-olds, 74.5% are fully vaccinated, while the vaccination rate for the fully vaccinated over 70 lies at 84%.
Note, however, that data provided by the ECDC is always slightly behind national updates.
With a general vaccination rate of 72%, Luxembourg finds itself well placed among its European counterparts. In contrast, France has experienced a slow vaccination campaigns which has recently improved with the introduction of the so-called sanitary pass. Now, over 80% of the adult population in France have had their first jab.
Germany has inoculated at least 73.9% of its population with one dose; 68.4% are fully vaccinated.
In Belgium, 83.8% of the population has been jabbed at least once.
Ireland is the current frontrunner in terms of first doses administered, with 88.1%, followed closely by Portugal (87.5%) and Malta (87%). At the bottom of the list are Bulgaria (19.5%), Romania (31.7%) and Latvia (45.3%), with the least first doses.
