Last week, 439 new Covid-19 infections were reported in Luxembourg, a decrease of 22% compared to the previous week, which had 566 new infections.
366 out of the 439 new cases were unvaccinated people, equalling 83.4%. 73 people (16.6%) on the other hand were fully vaccinated. Infection numbers have now decreased for a fourth consecutive week.
The number of PCR tests increased from 43,736 to 46,244 last week. Eight people further declared positive results from rapid tests.
When it comes to active infections, they declined from 1,239 (on 25 July) to 956 (on 1 August). 72,212 residents are considered to have recovered from Covid-19. The average age of infected people has remained stable at 30.3 years.
In hospitals, numbers have slightly increased over the past week. 19 patients currently receive treatment, two more than the week before. The number of used intensive care units remains five. The average age of patients has slightly increased from 51 to 53 years.
The reproduction rate has also remained stable at 0.80, while the positivity rate decreased from 1.29% to 0.95%. The seven-day-incidence has meanwhile decreased to 69 new infections per 100,000 citizens, compared to 89 last week.
Fewer people had to enter quarantine or isolation last week: 1,309 had to isolate (-18%), while 717 had to quarantine (-36%). Most infections continue to take place in family circles (43.9%), followed by travel (12.6%), and leisure activities (10.4%). In 34.2% of cases, no infection source could be determined.
Between 26 July and 1 August, 26,788 vaccine doses were administered. 3,886 people received their first jab, 22,811 the second one, and 91 a third one. In Luxembourg, a total of 717,418 jabs have been administered to this day, with 355,891 people being considered fully vaccinated.
