Most of the affected businesses have existed for at least five years, with many of them active in the service sector.
Over the past six months, a total of 68 businesses from the construction sector and 66 from the hospitality industry declared bankruptcy.
Larger firms were also often forced to let employees go, including Socoma Constructions in Bridel, Solartec in Grevenmacher, and Bigor in Lenningen.
Creditreform Luxembourg issued a respective report, in which they also show that many bankruptcies could be avoided with the financial support from the government.
However, the pandemic often has displaced effects, meaning that many unknown consequences could still occur over the coming months.
