If the proposal is accepted, both towns will start forming a new municipality as of July 2023.

Wahl Mayor Christiane Thommes-Bach and Grosbous Mayor Paul Engel both argue in favour of the fusion, which they see as an opportunity for more resources and joint projects.

With a combined total of 2,200 citizens, the new town will be eligible for close to €5 million in financial support.

Over the past 17 years, twelve municipalities have conducted a fusion. The number of towns in the Grand Duchy thus decreased from 118 to 102.
