TEDxLuxembourgCityWomen returns to Neumünster Abbey on Saturday, 6 December, promising an inspiring day of ideas, innovation, and powerful stories from local and international speakers.

TEDxLuxembourgCityWomen returns on Saturday 6 December at Neimënster, bringing together an inspiring lineup of speakers from Luxembourg and abroad. Ahead of the event, organiser and curator Dirk Daenen joined The Sam Steen Show to discuss what audiences can expect and to confirm that RTL Today Radio listeners can still secure tickets even as the event approaches capacity.

Daenen has been working closely with speakers in recent weeks, helping them prepare for the unique fifteen to eighteen minute TED format.
"It is a little bit crazy", he told Sam. "Everything is coming up. Of course all the speakers. One of my jobs is helping the speakers to make sure that the TED Talk, which is quite a unique format, is the way that it should be."

Local voices on a global stage

TEDx events are independently run, locally rooted and designed to share ideas with the world. Luxembourg has already seen talks reach large international audiences, something Daenen says makes the platform uniquely powerful.

"It is really a way to take local voices and give them a global platform", he explained. "We have had a couple of talks just given here in Luxembourg. Actually there is one… he has over fifteen million views."

This year's theme, Beyond the Horizon, is intentionally broad and gives the stage to a wide range of topics and perspectives. As a TEDxWomen event, the programme highlights the achievements, challenges, and stories of women and girls.

Speakers include specialists in areas such as artificial intelligence, healthcare, feminism, space exploration, education, and social change.

One of the standout guests is Abby Hussey from iSpace, who has worked on lunar and Mars rover projects. Another is thirteen-year-old activist Melina Traxler, whose talk left Daenen deeply moved during rehearsal.

"When I heard her deliver it… I was crying", he said. "It is insane to hear a thirteen-year-old make those kinds of observations and ask the kind of questions she does."

A community effort

TEDxLuxembourgCityWomen is run entirely by volunteers and made possible through support from the Ville de Luxembourg, the Ministry of Gender Equality, and Diversity and the CNFPC. Minister Yuriko Backes and Luxembourg City Mayor Lydie Polfer will be present to welcome guests.

“This kind of thing is not possible without the support of some people,” Daenen said. "The Ville de Luxembourg has basically made this possible, and the CNFPC are also really helping us put this event on."

Special ticket allocation for RTL Today Radio listeners

Neumünster Abbey offers a beautiful setting, but capacity is limited. While general tickets are selling fast, Daenen confirmed that he has reserved an additional allocation specifically for RTL Today Radio listeners.

"We do not have that many tickets left", he said, "but what I will do is… I am going to reserve twenty tickets to the side just for RTL."

Listeners can access these through Eventbrite using the promotional code RTL, available via: TEDxLuxembourgCity.org.
