The defence further notes that the general practitioner merely questioned the use of masks rather than stating they were toxic.
Dr Benoît Ochs has to appear in front of the disciplinary council and currently risks a one-year ban from practice. He stands accused of having spread misinformation and violated the deontological code during the pandemic:
Covid scepticism: General practitioner Benoît Ochs to appear before disciplinary council
Lawyer Christian Bock has now reacted to the accusations against his client: "Dr Ochs tried acting in the best interest of his clients, and that to the best of his abilities. He wanted to provide them with the best possible conditions to prevail over the virus. He never intended to break the law or violate any protocols."
Bock acknowledged that his client criticised official regulations and lamented that infected patients would not receive sufficient treatment. However, the lawyer further underlined that Dr Ochs merely questioned the use of masks rather than stating they were toxic: "My client referred to a respective study that was being undertaken at the time."
When it comes to vaccine scepticism, Bock denies that the general practitioner doubts the efficiency of the process: "He has been vaccinating patients for years."
The lawyer further argued that his client may be used to set an example and put other doctors in their place.
The ruling in the case will be announced on 14 July. Bock announced that they will appeal the decision should Dr Ochs be awarded a ban from practice.
