A number of final year classes from 12 secondary schools have written a letter to Minister of Education Claude Meisch, asking for their school year to end two days early.
The students argue that this would reduce the risk of infection with the coronavirus.
According to the latest projections, the peak of the third wave is expected to occur around mid-May and thus precisely around the start of the final exams on 17 May.
In their letter, the students state that anger among them is growing because an increasing number of them fear that they might miss one of the exams, seeing as they have to attend classes in person until 12 May.
For this reason, the students ask the Minister to allow the use of remote learning for the week between 9 and 12 May.
The letter was signed by students from 12 different secondary schools.
