In light of the upcoming Easter holidays, the Ministry of Health issued a statement on Thursday to inform practitioners not to prescribe Covid tests for people who want to travel abroad.

The letter, which was signed by the National Health Directorate's Dr Jean-Claude Schmit, explicitly tells doctors to reserve PCR tests for people who are suspected to have contracted the virus.

When people ask for a PCR test so that they can travel abroad, doctors are advised to refer them to private laboratories, where they can make an appointment themselves. This also means that travellers will now have to pay for PCR tests.
