The question was raised by five CSV MPs in two separate parliamentary questions.

No, this is not the Wurst. The national airline has been hit hard by the pandemic, and thus Luxair's management decided in February to scrap its offer of local crémant onboard and replace it with cheaper international alternatives. Independent winemakers were furious.

Even though the state is a shareholder in the airline, Luxair has commercial autonomy, argue Minister for Transport François Bausch and Minister of Agriculture, Viticulture and Rural Development Romain Schneider. The decisions therefore lie with the Luxair management, which make take the final decision.

Due to the poor economic situation of the airline, some contracts had to be renegotiated. Luxair CEO Gilles Feith said at the time that the choice of drinks onboard was on of the changes.

The government already said it was committed to the promotion of local wine products and will support the sector with €350,000.
