"Stëmm vun der Strooss" ("Voice of the Street") is a non-profit organisation looking to help underprivileged people reintegrate into society.
Furthermore, the organisation provides warm meals to those living in the streets. Due to the pandemic, new safety standards had to be introduced however, meaning that no more than 15 people are allowed in the same dining room at a time. They are also not allowed to stay longer than half an hour.
Before the beginning of the health crisis an average of 300 people met within the organisation on a daily basis, a number which has now dropped by half. The number of volunteers has been reduced as well.
With more pressing existential worries for these people, the virus is the least of their worries.
The annual "Wanteraktioun" ("Winter Initiative") in Findel has meanwhile helped relieve some of the pressure from the organisation. The initiative will continue running until 31 March.
