Police received reports on Monday afternoon of a fraud case in which a victim had a substantial sum of money withdrawn from their bank account without authorisation.
During the course of the investigation, officers were able to identify and apprehend a suspect described as a so-called money mule.
A body search conducted at the time of arrest uncovered a mobile phone and a quantity of cash. A subsequent search of the suspect’s residence led to the seizure of a laptop. All items were confiscated on the orders of the public prosecutor’s office.
The suspect was taken into custody and appeared before an examining magistrate on Tuesday morning.
