The Luxembourgish Society of Psychiatrists, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists and Psychotherapists has drawn attention to the lack of mental health professionals in the country.
Hospitals are in urgent need of specialists, psychiatrists, child psychiatrists and neuropsychiatrists, as services might soon no longer be able to operate correctly. In the last month, five freelance psychiatrists decided to stop their work at clinics, with only one of them due to age reasons.
At the same time there were five slots for psychiatric assistants which had no applicants, with those jobs still being available. There are several reasons for this, but in general, working conditions for psychiatrists are difficult, which is why the SLPPP requires fast action from the responsible authorities.
