RTL Today
The Eurozone's ministers of finance have announced their support of Frank Elderson's candidacy for the European Central Bank's executive board.

The Luxembourger Yves Mersch was on the executive board for eight years. His mandate ends on 14 December. The ECB’s executive board consists of six members in total.

Elderson must now be confirmed by all member states. His candidacy will then be debated in the European Parliament as well as the ECB’s Governing Council.

The final decision is taken by the Eurogroup before the end of the year.
