A new report by consulting giant Deloitte places Luxembourg City at the top of its list of the most expensive cities for renters in Europe.

At 30.7 euros per square metre per month, Luxembourg City stands ahead of Paris (28.3), inner London (27), Oslo (25.8) and Dublin (25).

Deloitte's Property Index report shows that the capital is not alone in suffering from extremely high prices: Luxembourg's Esch-sur-Alzette and Differdange are also in the top 10, alongside Trondheim in Norway, Amsterdam and Copenhagen.

Both Esch (21.8 €/sqm) and Differdange (20) are more than twice as expensive per square metre as Vienna (9.9) and Berlin (9.1).

The report has further insights into the Grand Duchy's housing market.

Luxembourg holds the record for the most expensive European country in terms of apartment prices in 2019, at 7,145 €/sqm.

House prices in the country have risen by an average of 11% from 2018 to 2019.
