Cross-border workers from the Grand Duchy's three neighbouring countries will soon make up half of Luxembourg's workforce.
On Tuesday, Statec released the latest employment statistics in Luxembourg.
Before the coronavirus came to disrupt the entire economy, the number of cross-border workers continued to increase dramatically.
By the end of 2019, there were 203,522 cross-border employees, compared to 239,250 resident employees. Almost 46% of employees in Luxembourg.
The number of cross-border workers increased more rapidly than that of residents during the year.
According to the Statec report, administration, public services, trade, accommodation and catering activities were the main drivers of job growth in Luxembourg.
The French still represent the largest share of these cross-border workers with 107,312 employees - an increase of more than 1,100 people in three months. The Germans (48,241) and the Belgians (47,969) follow thereafter.
