Italy made the decision to close all schools and universities throughout the country until 15 March. The question has emerged what the Luxembourgish authorities would do if put in a similar position.

Private schools, including the Vauban school and St Georges School, have published guidance on contingency plans if one of their students were to test positively for coronavirus Covid-19. Minister of Health Paulette Lenert responded to an RTL query on the government's contingency plans for state schools. She revealed that headteachers of various schools have come together with the government to play through various scenarios. These scenarios however are continuing to be adapted with time as more information on the epidemic emerges.

Lenert confirmed that government recommendations will permit the schools and ministry to act quickly in the event of an outbreak. However, the general policy is that schools in Luxembourg will remain upon in the meantime. She highlighted that it is not the place of a school to decide whether it should close temporarily. The Ministry of Health is responsible for making those decisions, although exceptions apply to private schools.

As for other events, she reported that around 50 organisers of various protests and events have contacted the ministry for guidance. The Health Directorate has a form available which will supply individuals with an updated risk of coronavirus.
