The catalyst for the investigation was the RTL radio programme “Presseclub” on Sunday 2 February, which tackled the fallout of the now infamous Waringo report into the inner workings of the Grand Ducal Court. Lëtzebuerger Land journalist Pol Schock told RTL’s Roy Grotz that he had heard many accounts of physical violence suffered by staff members, citing what he called “believable” stories of people who had been hit in the face.

The Luxembourg prosecutor’s office confirmed in a press release on Tuesday that the judicial police service had been tasked with carrying out investigative duties. The prosecutor’s office will await the conclusions of the investigation to decide on the possible consequences.
