€2.5 millionDifferdange buys 120 hectares of land in France to prevent opening of garbage dump

RTL Today
The municipality of Differdange purchased 1.2 square kilometres of land just across the border in Saulnes, a municipality in France.

The reason Differdange purchased the land is to prevent a garbage dump to be installed in the area, according to a Luxemburger Wort article published on Saturday.

The purchase of €2.5 million is set to be officially finalised by the end of February. The land is located just across the border in France, between Rodange and Roudenhaff, to be precise.

Henri Krecké, the secretary of the municipality of Differdange, tells Wort that following the withdrawal of the company which had originally planned for a garbage dump to be installed in Saulnes, Differdange wanted to avoid another company turning the same idea into reality.
