Heavy accusations are being levelled at CIGR Syrdall, an organisation which employs 145 people. The head of the Regional Management and Initiative Centre has been charged with harassment and severe financial misconduct, with the Lëtzebuerger Wort even branding him with the charge of nepotism.
Contern's local council, one of five municipalities involved with CIGR Syrdall, has lodged two complaints: one against the head of the organisation, and one against "X". Apparently, €760,000 were spent on the acquisition and renovation of a hall for which only 200 to 250,000 Euro were approved.
Despite there being knowledge of this malpractice since May (at the latest), nothing had been done. It was then that Contern authorities also sent a letter to CIGR management, to the administrative board and to the minister of labour and employment, Dan Kersch.
Minister Dan Kersch, in response to RTL queries, said he had forwarded the letter on the Public Prosecutor's Office immediately, but was unwilling to give any further details.
Contern mayor Marion Zovilé stressed that it was not their intention to drive CIGR into the ground, as they had been claiming. However, the behaviour at CIGR was of such a degree that, even as a normal citizen, they deserved to be reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office.
CIGR President and Junglinster Councillor Mike Hagen has announced an official statement will be released on Friday afternoon. Arriving on site after CIGR's administrative board, none of those responsible were willing to respond to RTL's questions. Matters were kept behind closed doors, yet it was clear that the general atmosphere was rather oppressive.
