Fresh data from Eurostat show that Luxembourg is the second most expensive country for carnivores in the Union.
The average price of meat in Luxembourg is 48% higher than that of the EU28 - the second most expensive out of any EU country, with only Austria (46%) coming out ahead. Neighbouring France (31%) and Belgium (26%) aren't much cheaper.
The cheapest meat in the area is found in Germany (6% above the EU28 average), while the overall cheapest EU countries from which to source your meat are Poland and Romania (both 63% of the EU28 average, or 37% cheaper).

Overall, Luxembourg is also the second-most expensive EU country in which to buy food: at 26.9% above the EU28 average, its behind only Denmark (30%).
