RTL Group is undertaking the project of building two large photovoltaic parks on its transmitter sites in Beidweiler and Junglinster, in collaboration with Enovos.
The project will see 7,300 panels built in Junglinster and 16,100 built in Beidweiler, making up the first solar parks of this scale in the Grand Duchy. It is estimated that the solar parks will be able to produce 7,000 megawatt hours (MWh) per year.
RTL Group is in charge of the initiative alongside Luxembourgish energy supplier Enovos. Solar panels will be built at ground-level on both sites, between the transmitter poles.
The construction site to build the solar parks has just begun and will conclude by January 2020. In total, the volume of solar energy produced by both parks will correspond to the average annual energy consumption of 1,800 households.
