The construction works have, for the most part, been completed since the end of 2019, and last week, crash barriers were erected. One of the most time consuming aspects of the project was the building of four separate bridges.
In May, developments will proceed onto the next stage, namely the opening of three lanes. The entire roundabout is set to be open and running by the close of 2020, or beginning of 2021. The aim of the new system is to radically improve the flow of traffic.
The roundabout has a diameter of 135m, six access points and will be regulated without lights. It's similar to the "Irrgärtchen" by Sandweiler.
At full capacity, the roundabout will have up to 40,000 cars a day passing through, and a bicycle lane is also included. The whole project came at a cost of roughly €51 million.
