Most of the applications concerned people from Syria or Eritrea. Last month, 41 people were granted refugee status in Luxembourg, representing 35.7% of applications.
Before the pandemic, between 2017 and 2019, an average of 2,191 applications were submitted each year in Luxembourg. Since 2020 and the arrival of the coronavirus, this average has fallen to 1,207 per year.
