There's more to Luxembourg than you may know, and a lot of it can be seen on two wheels. In part three, it's time to explore the south of the country!

In honour of European Mobility Week (16–22 September), an awareness-raising campaign on sustainable urban mobility by the European Commission, we've decided to show you some of Luxembourg's choicest cycling routes.

Naturally Caroline & Chris – our guides for this series – relied wholly on public transport for the places where they didn't have enough pedal power to get them to and from the start/end points. For this third instalment of the series, they also set themselves the task of meeting three missions.. one of which included additional means of public transport.

The first of three guides in this series was aired on Monday, for which we sent C&C on a bipedal adventure from Schieren to Kirchberg. Along the way they see cows (of course), a castle, fields, forests, and the Mersch Monument of Independence. That's not bad for a couple of hours of leisurely pedalling.

This second guide focussed on the City itself, and today's third and final route sees the duo heading south from Kirchberg to Esch via Hamm, Hesperange, and Bettembourg.

We teamed up with LS Sports in Schieren, who sponsored this series and supply C&C with their bikes.

Route 3 – Cycling around the south of the country

We've seen cows, castles, monuments, bridges, and cobble stone – now it's time to head for the flatlands of the great South of Luxembourg, on a journey that will take us from Kirchberg, to Hamm, Alzingen, Roeser, Bettembourg, and all the way to Esch – with a bonus stop-off at the Schueberfouer on Glacis.

Sadly the latter attration has ended for this year, but enjoy the nostalgia and make sure to bookmark a visit to the Fouer for 2025.
