1 April – Score – DANCE
This piece for 3 performers uses ems (electric muscle stimulation) to send out electric impulses to the muscles of the performers. Isaiah uses a midi piano to control the impulses; there are twelve notes on the piano and each note corresponds to one muscle. This enables isaiah to create a dance that can be choreographed through computational code like a musical partition. It explores the relationship between the human body and technology – where technologies have been developed to simplify our lives, it has also disconnected humans from their free will and cognitive capacities. 1 April – Out of the Deep – TALK
Winner of the 2022 Concours Littéraire National John-Paul Gomez will be in conversation with Nathalie Jacoby and Martin MacInnes, whose debut novel Infinite Ground won the Somerset Maugham Award, and whose second novel, Gathering Evidence, gave him the status of 'one of the ten writers shaping the UK's future'. The third novel, In Ascention was Blackwell's Book of the Year, won the Arthur C. Clarke Award, the Saltire Fiction Award, and was longlisted for the Booker Prize. More details.
2 April – Milow – MUSIC
Milow (Jonathan Vandenbroeck) has become one of Europe’s most prolific singer-songwriters, known for his ability to translate personal subjects into universal anthems. His hits, such as You Don’t Know, Ayo Technology, Howling At The Moon and more recent successes like Whatever It Takes and ASAP, have earned him a global following. Milow’s live performances, enhanced by the incredible talents of his band, are known for their intimacy and energy. Tickets €42.

4 April – Dizzee Rascal – MUSIC
Dizzee Rascal, born Dylan Mills, is a pioneering British rapper, producer, and songwriter from East London, recognised as a key figure in the grime music scene. Emerging in the early 2000s, Dizzee's debut album, Boy in da Corner (2003), won the Mercury Prize and established him as a groundbreaking artist blending gritty, rapid-fire lyrics with innovative electronic beats. 4–6 April – Jazzorwhatever!? – MUSIC
Brandbau Wiltz invites international and local acts for its three-day jazz festival, a vibrant celebration of not only jazz but also classical melodies, contemporary beats and electronic soundscapes. Ellis Jones has played music as Trust Fund since 2012, releasing four albums that range from lo-fi bedroom pop to full-band indie rock. His songs have been critically acclaimed by Rolling Stone, Pitchfork and The Guardian, and endorsed by Frank Ocean's Blonded Radio. French psych-pop rebels La Femme are set to electrify Rockhal with their hypnotic blend of new wave, surf rock, and electronic beats. Bringing together jazz and folk influences, Ukrainian MP and artist Lisa Yasko will perform alongside Arthur Possing, Michel Meis, Laurent Payfert, and Sveinung Nygaard. My Soil is a tribute to Ukraine’s resilience, featuring compositions written during historic moments such as the full-scale invasion and the Revolution of Dignity, as well as iconic Ukrainian songs arranged by international musicians. 21 April - Émaischen Luxembourg - MARKET
The Éimaischen festival dates back to at least 1827. One of the most iconic events in Luxembourg's calendar of traditional festivals, it is a craft market that mainly features pottery and ceramics. Among the most popular items at the market are small bird-shaped terracotta whistles known as Péckvillercher, which are sold only at the Éimaischen. Since their appearance varies each year, people queue up first thing in the morning to get their hands on these coveted collectibles. The bird-like calls of these whistles mingle with the sounds of other folkloric activities, creating a uniquely charming atmosphere. Famous in Luxembourg City and Nospelt. More info.

Brazilian songstress Vanessa da Mata is bringing her sun-drenched melodies and velvety vocals to Rockhal for a night of pure musical escapism. The Printemps des Poètes-Luxembourg festival returns 25–27 April for its 18th edition, celebrating poetic creation through the voices of a dozen poets from across Europe. As always, the festival will be a polyphonic and multilingual experience, blending reflection and festivity, with this year’s volcanic theme encapsulating the raw creative energy, the force of life, and the power of an imagination that “turns words into vision.” More info.
26 April – Jeff Goldblum & The Mildred Schnitzer Orchestra – MUSIC
Hollywood icon and jazz aficionado Jeff Goldblum is swinging into Luxembourg with his Mildred Snitzer Orchestra. 26–27 April – DKV UrbanTrail – SPORTS
Sign up now to participate in the DKV UrbanTrail, covering either 5km, 14km or 18km walks on Saturday and 14km, 18km, 27km or 34km runs on Sunday. This is one of the most exciting and definitely prettiest races in Luxembourg, taking you through the urban landscape of Luxembourg City and surroundings. You can also watch from the sidelines.
