This week, we visit the Mullerthal, one of the most picturesque regions of the country. Luxembourg's "Little Switzerland" boasts unusual sandstone formations and plenty of intriguing walking trails. In 2022, the nature park was added to UNESCO Global Geoparks.
But tourists visiting the Mullerthal don't just go for the walks and the waterfalls, they often undertake excursions to the abbey city of Echternach, with its popular lake destination in the summer, and traces of the city's Roman origins. Thousands of people flock to the streets every year to see the traditional hopping procession. Elsewhere in the region, Beaufort, Bourglinster and Larochette offer impressive castles and ruins which are always worth a trip.
RTL photographer Domingos Oliveira has put together a gallery of the most attractive views and buildings in the area. We kick things off with Echternach, with other towns following across the next few days.
