Getting there

  • By plane

The fastest way to reach Milan from Luxembourg is by plane. Direct flights from Findel Airport to Milan Malpensa or Milan Linate take around one hour and 30 minutes. Several airlines – including Luxair, Ryanair, and ITA Airways – operate regular flights. From the airport, you can take the Malpensa Express train (about €13) or a taxi (approximately €100) to the city centre.

  • By car

Driving from Luxembourg to Milan covers about 700km and takes around seven to eight hours, depending on traffic and stops. A popular choice by many Milan natives who live in Luxembourg. The route passes through scenic landscapes in Switzerland, with toll roads along the way. Make sure to check Swiss motorway regulations, as you'll need a vignette to drive through the country that you can easily purchase at Automobile Club Luxembourg (ACL).

  • By train

There is no direct train from Luxembourg to Milan, but you can take a train to Zurich and then transfer to a high-speed train to Milan. The total journey takes approximately seven to eight hours, and tickets cost around €80–150 depending on the class and time of booking.

Public transport

Milan has an efficient public transport system with metro, trams, and buses. A 24-hour transport pass costs around €7. Taxis are also available, with a typical city ride costing €10–25.
