As Luxair announced on Tuesday, four flights between Findel and the German capital will be cancelled on Wednesday due to the strike at Berlin Airport. Affected are two flights from Luxembourg to Berlin – LG9471 and LG9473 – and two flights from Berlin to Luxembourg – LG9472 and LG9474.

In a statement, Luxair said that all affected passengers would be contacted and offered “alternative solutions”. At the time of the announcement, however, the flights were still listed as scheduled on the Luxairport website.

After the German union Verdi called for a warning strike for the entire day, the operators of Berlin Airport completely halted passenger flight operations. A total of 445 departures and arrivals with around 57,000 passengers are affected, according to Berlin Brandenburg Airport.

Verdi is negotiating with the operators over higher pay for around 2,000 employees. In the second round of negotiations, the airport offered a pay increase in several stages, running until the end of 2028.

Accordingly, there would be no increase until June, followed by a 1% rise from July 2026, 1.5 percent from July 2027, and a further 1 percent from May 2028. “This is not a serious offer, but a provocation at the negotiating table”, said a Verdi spokesperson.

The next round of negotiations is scheduled for 25 March.
