Luxembourgish independent brewery Twisted Cat placed in three and won in two categories at the 2025 World Beer Awards.
On 13 August, Twisted Cat, an independent Luxembourgish brewery, came out on the winning side of this year's edition of the World Beer Awards, standing out from over 3,000 entries.
Their Dry Hopped IPA managed to drink all other contestants under the table and secure gold in the English Style IPA category, counting it among the best beers worldwide. To achieve this, they first had to triumph in the first round, where a national winner in each style category was selected, before being put up against the other Country Winners in the second round.
In summary, Twisted Cat was announced Country Winner and won gold for their Dry Hopped IPA (IPA English Style), as well as winning silver for their Diddelenger Pils (a lager), and bronze twice: once for their Original Pale Ale (a Pale Beer, American Style), and once for their Cloudy Day (Milkshake IPA / New England IPA).
“These awards are not just a win for our brewery, but for the entire Luxembourg craft beer scene. We’ve always believed that bold, independent brewing from a small country can compete — and win — on the world stage. Now, the results speak for themselves", said Joel Back, Brewer and Partner of the Twisted Cat Brewery, as well as President of the Confederation of Brewers and Breweries of Luxembourg.
The awards were announced during a ceremony at The Great Hospital in Norwich, UK; organised by the World Drinks Awards, it counts as one of the most prestigious global competitions in the brewing industry, recognising outstanding beer across all styles and nations. The judging panel was made up of judges from around the world, including writers, brewers, retailers, and industry experts. To ensure fair and quality assessment the judges performed blind tastings.
Pete Brown, the Global Chair of Judges, specified that "with more than 3,000 entries this year, the standard was extremely high. The global scope of both entries and judges made for an exciting and diverse competition. Even seasoned experts were discovering something new".
